Baseball's Meissner Named Arizona Republic Athlete of the Week

Brophy senior Jack Meissner was named the Arizona Republic Male Athlete of the Week based on his play last week in the 32nd Annual Adam Donnenfield Invitational. In four games, he hit .556 with three doubles and seven RBIs. He hit a grand slam in the 9-8 win over Notre Dame Prep in the Saturday finale. Meissner has signed to play at UC Santa Barbara.
 
The other nominees were Luke Shaw of Chandler Valley Christian Basketball and Leo Gutierrez of Salpoointe Catholic Soccer. Meissner received 84 percent of the vote.

He is the third Bronco to earn the award this season: Swimming's Asher Gomez and Basketball's Ryan Burbach.
