All freshman applicants will be asked to submit a two-minute personal video. Connecting via video within the application process has provided unique ways for young men to tell their stories. A number of our partner Jesuit high schools, as well as many leading colleges and universities, are effectively using this creative addition to the application process.
OVERALL INSTRUCTIONS:
- Create a personal admissions video using a smartphone, tablet or computer. Video file formats that work are typically .mov or .mp4.
- The time limit is no more than two minutes maximum.
- Be authentic and genuine — and have fun! We want the video to reflect who you are and what you love to do. There are no right or wrong answers.
- Videos will not be evaluated for production quality; however, make certain that you are visible and audible during your video. Check the lighting and listen to your video after you have recorded it to ensure you are happy with the final product before submitting it.
- Class of 2030 - The video must be uploaded no later than Jan. 15, 2026.
VIDEO INSTRUCTIONS:
First, don’t worry. You do not need fancy editing or special effects to do this. If you just want to talk us through your answers in one sitting, that’s perfect. If you enjoy being creative and want to edit your video so it looks like you’re “traveling,” go for it! Either way, what matters most is that we get to know you.
Now, imagine this: you wake up one morning and your alarm clock is magic. Every two hours, it goes off, and each time it takes you somewhere new. You’ll get six stops in total. Here’s where your clock will take you:
- First alarm: Introduce yourself - your name and your middle school.
- Second alarm: Home. Tell us about your family and how they’ve shaped you.
- Third alarm: Brophy’s campus. Why do you want to be here? What excites you about joining the community?
- Fourth alarm: A place that shows who you are - maybe your favorite activity, hobby, or hangout. Tell us what makes you you.
- Fifth alarm: A challenge you think you’ll face in high school. Share how your experiences so far have prepared you to meet it.
- Sixth alarm: A surprise stop! Tell us something about yourself that isn’t anywhere else in your application.
That’s it - six simple “alarms” to help us see who you are beyond your application. We’re excited to hear your story!
UPLOAD INSTRUCTIONS:
- You will upload the video file directly to the Application Checklist.
- If the video is larger than 100MB, you must share it with us through Google Drive, iCloud, Dropbox or another file-sharing program - it will not upload to the Application Checklist.
- Your video will not be shared publicly. It will only be viewed by the Admissions Committee.
Lights, camera, action!
