The Alumni Awards

Each fall, we honor two alumni for the ways they have embodied the tenets of the Graduate after Graduation in their life's work: Intellectually Competent, Open to Growth, Religious, Loving and Committed to Doing Justice.

The St. Ignatius of Loyola Award for Distinguished Service is presented to a Brophy alumnus whose life and life's work exemplify a sustained commitment to Jesuit education. The 2023 recipient of the St. Ignatius Award for Distinguished Service is Michael Berens ’71.

The St. Francis Xavier Award for Ignatian Identity is presented to a more recent alumnus who has sought to deepen his commitment to the ideals of Jesuit education in remarkable ways. The 2023 recipient of the St. Francis Xavier Award for Ignatian Identity is Charles Galbraith ’98.

Nominations for the 2024 awards opened on July 31, the Feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, and the awards will be presented during the Father-Son Communion Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 23.

    This award is given annually to a Brophy alumnus whose life and life’s work exemplify a sustained commitment to the values of Jesuit education and the ways he personifies the Brophy Graduate after Graduation. The recipient of this award, like St. Ignatius, has earned the respect and admiration of the community because of the significant impact he has had on the lives of others, particularly those most vulnerable.
