Baseball Hosts 32nd Annual Adam Donnenfield  Preseason Tournament

The Brophy College Preparatory baseball program led by Head Coach Josh Garcia ‘07 will host the 32nd Annual Adam Donnefield Preseason Tournament Feb. 21-24. The event features 24 teams playing 48 games at 21 sites and honors the memory of former Brophy student Adam Donnenfield.

“Adam loved baseball and he loved being at Brophy,” said Larry and Johanna Donnenfield last year. “It was a wonderful combination. It is such an honor to Adam and our family that Brophy has created and promoted “The Adam Donnenfield Memorial Tournament” for over 30 years.”

The Adam Donnenfield Preseason Tournament is one of the longest-lasting tournaments in Arizona. It was established by Brophy’s head baseball coach Tom Succow in 1992, with support from the Donnenfield family. As a freshman in 1988, Adam began his baseball career at Brophy and planned to attend Princeton following graduation in the spring of 1992, where he committed to play Ivy League baseball. Sadly, during his senior year in December 1991, Adam was killed in a car accident. We continue to honor Adam by hosting this tournament in his name.”

The 2024 field includes host Brophy, Arcadia, Basha, Boulder Creek, Canyon del Oro, Chandler, Desert Mountain, Desert Ridge, Desert Vita, Gilbert, Higley, Kofa, Marcos de Niza, Mesquite, Mountain Pointe, Mountain View, Notre Dame Prep, O’Connor, Perry, Red Mountain, Saguaro, St. Mary’s, Sunnyslope, and Willow Canyon,
