Brophy Presents Dr. Maria Chavira with 2024 Inés Pascual Award
Each year at the Mother-Son Communion Breakfast, Brophy honors a woman in the community with the Inés Pascual Award for Generous Service. This year's recipient was Dr. Maria Romo Chavira, chancellor and vice moderator of the Curia for the Phoenix Diocese. In the latter role, Dr. Chavira is the only woman in the United States to hold this position and likely the only woman in the world. She is also a gifted teacher and an advocate for educational opportunities for underrepresented students. President Bob Ryan presented her with the award at the Mother-Son Communion Breakfast on Feb. 3 — read the citation here.
