Varsity Hockey Senior Night!

Join us for Senior Night on Saturday, January 20 as we celebrate our Brophy varsity hockey seniors: goalie Curry Wilga, assistant captains Wilson Bryant and Connor Rassas, and Captain Cooper Flynn. Brophy faces off against the top-ranked Centennial at 8 pm at the Scottsdale Ice Den for their last regular season game.

Captain Cooper Flynn, a key varsity player since his freshman year, made an indelible mark on Brophy hockey, contributing to a state championship in his sophomore year. Cooper's impressive skill set and leadership have not only led him to become one of the all-time greats in Brophy hockey history but also helped him notch the second-most total points in team history. This year, Cooper was involved in nearly half of the team's goals, earning him a spot in the AHSHA All-Star Game. Junior Connor MacDonnell notes Cooper's unique combination of physical play and technical ability, while Coach Allen highlights his exceptional character and skill. Cooper's next chapter includes business school at U of A, where he aims to continue his hockey career.

Wilson Bryant, consistently a force on the varsity squad since sophomore year, combines his passion for hockey with his talents in filmmaking and music. As concertmaster of Brophy’s orchestra and a member of the NHL’s Power Players, Wilson is praised for his tenacious play. Coach Maloney remarks on his relentless energy, while Connor MacDonnell admires his unrivaled tenacity. Wilson is thankful for the community and brotherhood Brophy hockey has offered. A nationally acclaimed youth filmmaker, Wilson intends to pursue a career in filmmaking.

Learning to play hockey at Brophy, Connor Rassas developed into one of the program's fastest skaters, a testament to his dedication and athleticism. Known for always being early to morning practice and his crushing hits on defense, Connor's favorite moment was winning the JV championship and state lacrosse championship in the same year. Spencer Millstine views him as an inspiring big brother, and Coach Maloney will miss his natural leadership. Connor is excited to join the US Air Force Academy’s NCAA D1 lacrosse team.

Curry Wilga has been a cornerstone of the team for four years, a highlight being his sophomore year JV state championship victory. Off the ice, Curry shines in theatre and honors chamber winds, and recently, he achieved his Eagle Scout rank. Described by Coach Allen as an incredibly hard worker and by Spencer Millstine as a fantastic teammate, Curry values the brotherhood and leadership lessons learned through hockey.
