Wrestling Advances Four to Husky Invite Finals

Brophy Wrestling took home the third-place trophy Saturday at the Husky Invitational at Horizon High School. Jackson Sweetman (190),  Khan Richardson (138), Adam Angulo (150), and Blake Sweetman (215) made the final, but Jackson Sweetman (190) was the sole Bronco who struck gold by pinning his opponent in the first period.  Blake fell to the defending state champion from Shadow Ridge 6-2; Angulo wrestled well, falling to a foe from Mesa Mountain View, and Richardson, up a weight, came home with the silver medal.

Cooper Carey (158) and Josh Finch-Logan (HWT) wrestled well, capturing bronze medals, and Beau Wallace (106) and Axel Lauer (165) earned fifth-place medals.

"We had a balanced tournament,” said Head Coach Wayne Catan. “Everyone wrestled above their seeds. We saw some guys that we'll see at the state tournament, and we will fix some things over the break, heading into the second part of our season," said Head Coach Wayne Catan.

The Broncos are now 10-2 in duals on the season.
