Hockey’s Cooper Flynn Moves into Second on Career Points List, Enters Top 50 in All-time AHSHA Points

Captain Cooper Flynn (‘24) moved into second on the Brophy hockey career points list on Saturday, December 2nd, in a 4-2 victory over Chaparral.

Flynn's pivotal role in the game was clear as he notched assists on both the first and game-winning goal, and scored the second goal himself. This performance was the culmination of his remarkable high school hockey career, where he has shown consistent excellence on the ice.

Having decided to focus solely on Brophy hockey after playing both high school and AAA hockey with the Arizona Bobcats his freshman year, Flynn's tenure at Brophy College Prep has been marked by impressive statistics:

  • In the 2020-21 season, Flynn accumulated 21 points in 17 games, with 9 goals and 12 assists.
  • The 2021-22 season saw him earn 16 points in 20 games, contributing 9 goals and 7 assists.
  • During the 2022-23 season, he added 13 points in 19 games, with 6 goals and 7 assists.
  • In the current 2023-24 season, he has achieved 14 points in 14 games, scoring 6 goals and assisting on 8, and averaging 1 point a game.

Amassing a total of 64 points in 70 games, Flynn surpassed Jack Giles ('23), the previous record holder who earned 63 points in 71 games. His total points also place him in the top-50 for points scored in the AHSHA, a testament to his skill and consistency on the ice.

Both the all-time AHSHA (and BCP) record is held by Finn Forster ('23), who earned an incredible 145 points in 81 games. Flynn's achievement firmly establishes him as one of the top players in Brophy College Prep and AHSHA’s history.

Reflecting on Flynn's extraordinary achievements, Don Maloney, the head coach of Brophy College Prep’s D1 hockey team, shared his thoughts on Flynn's impact as a player. "Cooper has been such an incredible leader serving as our team captain. He leads by example in every practice and game. His impact as a team leader makes everyone around him better. He will put the team before any personal recognition."

Flynn's high-level performance and leadership have been instrumental in the success of the Brophy hockey team. Flynn plans to attend the University of Arizona in the fall, where he hopes to play hockey.
