Wrestling Sweeps Season Opening Duals

The Brophy wrestling team swept both duals in the season opener at Copper Canyon HS on Wednesday, defeating the host 72-12 and Cibola 49-24.

"I am proud of our guys. It was a great first tri-meet," said Head Coach Wayne Catan. "I was impressed with freshman Beau Wallace (106), the Sweetmans (190, 215), Micah Blackburn(144), and Khan Richardson-(132) who registered a tech fall and a pin. However, we need to be prepared for every match this weekend at the Liberty Open."

Eight student-athletes posted two wins on the day including Beau Wallace (106) Khan Richardson (132), Michal Blackburn (144), Adam Angulo (150), Axel Lauer (165), Rowdy Benear (175), Jackson Sweetman (190) and Blake Sweetman (215). The Broncos compete at the Liberty Open on Friday and Saturday.
