The Brophy cross country team qualified for the AIA State Championships with a sixth-place finish at AIA Southwest sectionals. The Broncos scored 134 points to finish behind Liberty (59), Queen Creek (76), Rincon (85), Cibola (105) and Sunnyslope (110). The Broncos were led by junior Santiago Sanchez and senior Jack Kyle, who both had Top 10 finishes for the Broncos.
Sanchez was the top finisher in sixth overall in 16:47.8, while Kyle crossed eighth overall in 16:50.5. Senior Kenoby Hetman was the third to cross the line at 17:44 (26th overall) with freshman Diego Alejos was ourth in 18:45 (46th). Sophomore Mason Cavallo was the fifth finisher in 18:51 (48th). Ryan Rastad was 50th in 18:56 with Renzo Moran in 19:07 (53rd).
The AIA State Championships will be held on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Cave Creek Golf Course at 9:20 a.m.
