Get to Know: #2 Jacob Buggie

Jacob Buggie is a three-year letter-winner for the Broncos. He has 13 catches for 157 yards this season and a touchdown against Williams Field. A fun fact about Jacob is he has five family dogs.

How is the senior year going?
“It is going good. I am a little nervous with the shoulder, but I am glad I am going to finish the season for sure.”

What has it been like to have an impact on both offense and defense?
“Last year, I got a taste of playing defense against Red Mountain. Now, I get to participate more on both sides and keep them together and one unit. I enjoy it a lot.”

Looking back on the transition last year after playing quarterback, what was the process like for you?
“Physically, I am an athlete so I can play receiver. Mentally, it was challenging because I worked so hard at quarterback training day in and day out. I had to make the best of it.”

The NDP game was one of your best games at receiver with four catches for a career-best 84 yards. How did you feel about that game?
“Going into it, I felt good, and the night before I was visualizing and attacking. In the game, I had already visualized it, and it was happening again.”

How has playing quarterback helped you as a receiver and your connection with Charlie?
“Charlie and I see the field the same way because we have been next each other throwing and learning from each other. With me going to the receiver side, we get a good read together. We know where the ball is going before it is snapped.”

What are your plans for college at this point?
“I want to stay healthy throughout the season is the main thing. Whoever is interested in me playing  and can match with who I am interested in, I hope to play in college as long as I can.”

Coming off the bye, what is the team mentality heading into the final four games?
“We are feeling good about these last four games and finishing strong to make a good playoff run toward a gold ball.”

What does senior night mean to you?
“I am just cherishing the good and bad times because you can’t go back. When I was a sophomore on varsity, I looked at the seniors and realized it was going to be me soon. It came quickly. I just want to cherish the moments with the boys and take it all in.”
