Football Wins Fourth Consecutive Game, Holy Bowl over NDP

Sophomore Harrison Chambers scored three times while quarterback Charlie McGinnis threw for a touchdown to Nathan Benzie (34 yards) and rushed for two scores as Brophy posted a 42-17 #HolyBowl win.

“It was a huge win and our third in a row against the teams we consider our best rivals,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “It is big for momentum going into Basha.”

The victory brought the all-time series even to 2-2 as the Broncos improved to 4-1 in winning their fourth straight game.

Brophy recovered a botched snap on a punt for a short field, converting for a score on the first of Chambers’ first touchdowns for a 7-0 lead. Early in the second, Chambers scored for a 14-0 advantage and the Broncos led 21-2 at the half.

McGinnis, who went 12-or-18 for 175 yards, hit Benzie on a 35-yard reception on a fourth down play to extend the lead to 28-10. The Saints answered with a scoring drive but Brophy sealed the game as Chambers scored for a third time and McGinnis ran in his second.

Alex Salome led the team with 10 tackles, while Brandon Byrne had a big sack. Colin Aramian and Mardale Row had key tackles for loss. Wide receiver Jacob Buggie had four catches for a team-best 83 yards.

Chambers finished with 20 rushes for 98 yards with three touchdowns.

“It starts with our offensive line,” said Jewell. “They are big and physical. It is not something we have had and this year we are more balanced. Harry has really stepped up and Charlie is deceivingly athletic and made some plays with his feet.”

The defense held Cooper Perry to five catches for a season-low 18 yards. He had seven touchdowns and averaged 104 yards per game entering the contest.

Brophy travels on the road for the second consecutive week at Basha (5-0) for a 7 p.m. on Thursday. The game will be streamed by Zone48.
