Get to Know: Football's #78 Kharlo Sandez

Kharlo Sandez has been a four-year member of the football program. He started playing football at eight years old with the Valor Football Club. He has offers to play in college at Arizona Christian University, Ottowa University, Lewis & Clark, Bethel, and Northwest Missouri. He is the oldest of four siblings (13-year-old sister, 10-year-old brother, 7-year-old sister)
 
What brought you to Brophy?
“I had uncles and aunts that went to Brophy and Xavier. I did not know anything about Brophy until my Mom told me during eighth grade that I was going to Brophy. I love it here.”
 
Can you believe you are a senior already? What has been your favorite memory?
“Time flies. My favorite memory has been the trip to California. We had a lot of team bonding hanging out and swimming.”
 
What is your strength on the offensive line?
“My strength is my versatility. I have played every position on the offensive line except center.”
 
What are your goals for recruiting?
“I am looking forward to putting my play on film. Last year I got hurt and I only had a minute of film. This season I already have more film than last season from three games.”
 
How hard was it to get injured last year?
“It was pretty hard. Junior year is the biggest year for recruiting. I think I have come back stronger.”
 
What is a fun fact about you?
“I used to play the violin.”
 
What is the mantra of the offensive line this year?
Last year, we felt we left a lot on the table and we did not live u to our expectations. This year we have done good so far and we have had zero sacks in three games. We are trying to set the record (seven sacks in a season).”
 
What is the key to the cohesion?
“It is our aggressiveness and getting on people early.”

What is your greatest achievement(s): Youth football team won the state championship (Liberty Lions).
