Distance Standout Zach Loiselle Commits to Loyola Marymount

Recent graduate Zach Loiselle will run for Loyola Marymount University and attend the Jesuit school in Los Angeles this fall.

“For someone who didn't begin training exclusively as a runner until his junior year, Zach had an exceptional career at Brophy,” said Head Cross Country Coach Oscar Barboa ‘05. “He qualified for all 3 distance events at the D1 meet in his junior and senior seasons. He will forever go down as the distance team's first-ever individual qualifier in AZ's new Open State Meet. He always ran great when Brophy traveled to California for races, so LMU should be a wonderful home for him as a student-athlete continuing his Jesuit education.”

He was the top finisher for the Broncos at the 2022 AIA state cross country meet, crossing in 14th place, while he was second overall at the AIA sectional meet. He was named an All-Premier Region first-team selection.

On the track, he was named the Michael P. Keahon Most Valuable Distance Runner for the program. He finished his Bronco career with an 11th-place finish in the 1600m at the AIA Open Championships after running in three events at the divisional meet. He was fifth in the 1600 meters with a personal-best 4:19.36, 15th in the 800 meters (1:58.91), and 13th in the 3200 meters (9:39.87). He posted personal bests of 9:28.75 at the Aztec Invitational in the 3200m and 1:56.60 at the Westwood Invite in the 800m.

He will run for Jason Zarb-Cousin at Loyola Marymount. He is the 19th student-athlete from the Class of 2023 to make a collegiate commitment and the second to attend LMU (Matt Habovstak, Soccer).
