The Team System

Cura Personalis and Building Community

A core concept in Jesuit education is cura personalis, or care of the whole person. As one more way — in addition to the counseling and advisory systems — that Brophy can be attentive to this mandate, beginning in fall 2022 Brophy will introduce a team system with the aim of accomplishing the following...

🛡️  Enhance the connectedness among students of all grade levels by giving them smaller groups within which they can collaborate, form new friendships and establish team spirit and camaraderie.

🛡️  Encourage participation in school initiatives and programs through creative means such as games and other team competitions.

🛡️  Within the parameters of a large school, create community subsets that encourage outreach and collaboration with every voice being heard.

🛡️  Enhance the leadership of the Big Brother program by giving them more structure and tools to accomplish the meaningful work of mentorship.

🛡️  Create a friendly competition between our 64 adult captains — eight adults will support the work of each team — and provide them opportunities to connect with students outside of the confines of a traditional classroom.

🛡️  Finally, the team system will provide de facto homerooms to help facilitate and give structure to the community period.

Which Jesuit saint will be your team's inspiration...
