• Spirit Wear ordering is available now!

  Good afternoon Brophy Lacrosse families,

   

  Our club's 2018 spirit wear has been finalized and is now available for ordering! The spirit wear ordering period will run from today through next Wednesday, February 14th. Please send completed order forms to the varsity shop.

  Many thanks to Jason Donkersley for working tirelessly with the Brophy Varsity shop to select and design our spirit wear for this season.  (Note: the reason for the limited ordering period --today through Feb 14th--is that all of your orders will be bulk-submitted to UA and the printer by the varsity shop.)

   

  For those who may not know, spirit wear is the gear that is available for families to order through the varsity shop at school. It is designed for family members of players to wear in support of the team, and is of course entirely optional. It does, however, support the club, as a portion of each purchase returns to the club's operating budget. 
  
  
  

• Team cleat website is live again!

  Just like in the fall when many of you took advantage of our partnership with Under Armour to order new cleats (and socks), the opportunity to do so has arrived once more--back by popular demand. Many parents/players have asked, so we have opened the online team store until next Tuesday 2/13. You can access the team store via the following link:

  As a reminder, per our contract with UA, all varsity players must wear UA cleats and in return UA extends special price discounts to us. JV players are not required to wear UA cleats, but can also take advantage of the discounts.

   

  Once the store closes on 2/13, UA will ship all orders to the varsity shop where they can be picked up. The turnaround is typically 1-2 weeks after store closing.

• 2018 Season and Tryout Information

  Happy New Year! It's hard to believe, but in less than two weeks we'll kick off the 2018 season, starting with varsity tryouts on Monday, January 29.  The JV season will begin with practice (no tryouts or cuts for JV) on the following Monday, February 5.  As a reminder, we expect all sophomore-senior year players to attend varsity tryouts, and all experienced freshman are encouraged to attend as well. 

   

  Please see the following additional information. 

   

  Prior to Tryouts (All varsity and JV players):

  • Make sure you have a current physical on file at Brophy. You can contact Mr. Chris White (cwhite@brophyprep.org) to inquire about your clearance status. Players may not participate in any team-related activities without a physical!
  • Please complete and return the 2018 Lacrosse Registration Paperwork. You may return these to Coach Widbin's mail box or his office in the Innovation Commons.
  • If you have not sent your $50 registration fee to the Brophy Business Office, please do so prior to tryouts. Please make checks payable to Brophy Lacrosse.

   

  Varsity Tryouts Schedule:

  • Monday 1/29: Check-in 3:00-3:30pm in "The Dutch." lobby. 3:30-4:30pm Weight Room Testing. (Note: players will not need their lacrosse equipment)
  • Tuesday 1/30: Tryouts 5:30-7:30pm at BSC
  • Wednesday 1/31: Tryouts 3:15-4:15pm at BSC. 4:30-5:30pm conditioning in "The Dutch" weight room
  • Thursday 2/1: Tryouts 5:30-7:30pm at BSC
  • Friday 2/2: Tryouts 3-5PM at BSC
  • Saturday 2/3: Tryouts 7-9AM at BSC

  The first day of varsity practices will be Monday 2/5, 5:30-7:30PM at BSC. The JV season also begins on 2/5; all JV players should report to BSC for practice 5-7PM.

   

  Additional Season Information:

  • Once tryouts and JV registration are over, game and practice information will be available in myBrophy. 
  • The ALL expects to release the game schedule at the end of January. Once finalized, we will populate myBrophy.
  • JV and Varsity teams will player Coronado (NV) on Saturday 2/10 (game time TBD) @ Chaparral HS. As soon as I have final information, I will pass this along.
  • Teams will not practice over the President's Day weekend (2/16-2/19). 
  • The JV team will have Easter break off. The varsity team will be off Thurs 3/29-Mon 4/2 during Easter Break. We will practice Tues (4/3) evening in preparation for our games Wed (4/4) and Fri (4/6). All players are expected to attend. 
  • We will re-open the online team store ("cleat website") during the first two weeks of the season. If you missed the first opportunity, all JV and varsity players will be able to purchase discounted Under Armour cleats/socks, a benefit of our agreement with UA.
  • As a few have asked, our helmet colors are white shell with red chin.

• Team Store is Live Through 11/20!

  As a result of our contract with UA, players receive a discount on lacrosse cleat orders placed through our team store, which just went live! A link to the site has been sent via email to all members of the club.

   

  As you recall, all varsity players in 2018 must wear Under Armour cleats (JV players are not required).  You can of course choose to purchase your UA cleats elsewhere (or if you already have a pair, not purchase any new cleats at all), but the ones on the website are 2018 models at lower prices than last year's model.

   

  It's important to note that this team store will only remain open until Saturday, November 20th, so please plan accordingly. I have two of the three cleat models available in my office (in the IC) for players to look at and try on prior to ordering.

• Parker Dickerson joins varsity coaching staff

  I am excited to announce that Parker Dickerson will be joining the varsity coaching staff this coming season. He will take over as Defensive Coordinator, as I will be shifting to the offensive side of the ball. Please find his coaching bio below:

   

  Parker attended Hempfield High School, located in Landisville, Pennsylvania, where he played varsity lacrosse and football for four years.

   

  Following graduation, Parker spent two years at Essex Community College where he earned All-American recognition. He then transferred to Salisbury University where he was a member of two NCAA Division III Championship Title teams. While there he also earned All-American recognition, and earned the team’s Unsung Hero award in 2012.

   

  Parker coached for Green Turtle Lacrosse Club while playing in college. After graduation, he coached for Quiet Storm Lacrosse Club in Salisbury, Maryland for three years. He also spent a year at Hempfield HS as the varsity lacrosse team’s defensive coordinator, prior to moving out to Arizona. Since arriving in Phoenix, Parker has been an assistant volunteer coach at Grand Canyon University, and recently helped to develop the Rancho Solano Preparatory Lacrosse Program.

  Parker will handle duties as the Defensive Coordinator for the varsity team during the 2018 season. 

   

  With the addition of Parker, the coaching staffs for our JV and Varsity teams are now tentatively set. That said, I am committed to providing the boys with the highest level coaching available, so there may be additions to these staffs as the offseason progresses. Currently, the coaching staffs are as follows:

   

  JV: Chris Agliano (HC), Luke Strode, Ryan Murray

  Varsity: Zach Widbin (HC), Parker Dickerson, Nic Latham

  Thank you to everyone who was able to attend our fall meeting this past Tuesday.
