2016-2017 Season Preview
Brophy Lacrosse will step onto the practice field in late January eager to get back to championship weekend. With a solid base of returning players, including Joe and Luke Van Lier Ribbbink, Patrick McNeil, Alex Lesher, Joe Ducey, and Grant Hushek, the senior class will be instrumental in setting the tone for the 2017 season. In addition, Broncos Tommy Moore ‘19, Jack Clark ’18, and Marcus Pimentel ’18 hope to step into key roles as standout JV players compete for 2017 varsity roster spots.
2015-2016 Season ReviewBrophy Lacrosse experienced an intense season that included opportunities to play national and regional powerhouses, competitive in-state matches, and a season finish as state semifinalists. They finished their in-state schedule 7-1, earning the number 1 seed in the state playoffs. Although their playoff run fell short of team expectations, the Broncos are optimistically looking ahead to this year.
Brophy hosted the Jesuit Lacrosse Tournament, which brought together nationally ranked teams from Gonzaga College High School (Washington, D.C.), St. Ignatius College Prep (San Francisco, Calif.) and Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas (Texas). The level of play during these games was the best our state has seen, and there are plans to expand this tournament in 2017. Other notable 2016 out-of-state opponents included Lawrenceville and The Hun School (N.J.), Berkshire School (Mass.), and Corona Del Mar (Calif.).
2016 standout players include captains Tom Dye ’16 and Alex Paul ’16, as well as Josh Scrabeck ’16, Adam Brotz ’16, Joe Van Lier Ribbink ’17, Luke Van Lier Ribbink ’17, Pat McNeil ’17, Grant Hushek ’17, Alex Lesher ’17, and Joe Ducey ’17.
