2015-2016 Season Review
Brophy Hockey spent the 2015-2016 season rebuilding. The changes started at the top, with former head coach Gordon Hester leaving for a job in Minnesota after leading the Broncos to a state championship and four consecutive trips to the National Tournament. The Broncos welcomed new head coach Taylor Nelson ’08 who has been a part of the Brophy hockey program for nine years.
Although the Broncos did not win many games in 2015, they grew as a team and greatly improved their skills and knowledge of the game. Captain Jared Kleiner ’16 led the way on and off the ice. Although his leadership will be missed this next season, his contributions will continue to benefit the team.

2016-2017 Season Preview
With the challenging 2015-2016 season behind them, the Broncos worked hard during the off-season, preparing to start the journey back to the top. For the first time, the team participated in off-season summer workouts in Brophy’s weight room. The discipline of weight training together will add to their effectiveness as a team, as well as strengthen them individually and give them a competitive edge.
This year’s team is led by captain Cam Grams ’17. Grams is a four-year varsity player and is the only remaining player from Brophy’s last appearance in the National Tournament. His experience playing in big games will benefit the team.
There are many young men joining varsity this season and their youth and speed will undoubtedly help the Broncos on offense. The 2016-2017 season looks promising, with the team committed to working their way back to a championship.
