Get to Know: Lacrosse's #18 Ethan Swenson

Ethan Swenson is a four-year member of the lacrosse program including three years on the varsity team. He hopes to play in college and is looking at MIT. He is an Eagle Scout and has his final meeting on March 15. He enjoys volunteering in his free time with the Boys and Girls Club of Guadalupe, Feed My Starving Children, and Family Promise. He is the leader of the Gamez Club.

How is your senior lacrosse season going?
“It has been a little rocky. I have had a few injuries. In the time I have been out there, I think I have done pretty well. The team has done pretty well. It is off to a pretty good start.”

How do you build off the start of the season?
“We did have a couple of losses but it was good to come off a good win against a rival like Notre Dame Prep. We can build momentum on every win and take it one game at a time.”

How does last year’s state championship motivate you this year?
“Winning was good and bad. It was good because it showed us if we work all season and we do have a couple of losses, we can still come back and come together for a common goal of winning a championship. It was also bad because it gave us an ego boast and it showed early this season. These losses have humbled us.”

What is your role on the team?
“I am a guy who does everything. I am a utility guy. I can score goals, get assists and play defense and get ground balls. My biggest role is showing the guys that don’t need to be confined by a role. Just give it your all every time you step on the field.”

What did you do for your Eagle Scout project?
“My final Eagle Scout project was a garden with the Boys and Girls Club of Guadalupe. I have been volunteering there for three years. I also built a garden for them.”
