Hockey Has Unbeaten Weekend

The Brophy College Preparatory D1 hockey team finished off an unbeaten weekend with a 3-3 tie against Campo Verde Sunday night at the Scottsdale Ice Den. Nathan Dryden (Samuel/McDonnell), Jack Giles and Cooper Flynn (Burr) found the net.

Brophy trailed 3-1 entering the third period but responded with two goals in the final 15 minutes.

The Broncos opened the weekend by defeating Horizon 7-4 on Saturday. It was the first win of the season and the team scored a season-high seven goals.

Senior Finn Forster led the team with a hat trick and two assists.

Horizon jumped out a 1-0 lead in the first period and scored the first goal of the second to take a 2-0 advantage. Connor Oldani got the team on the board at the 13:25 mark but Horizon scored again to take a 3-1 advantage.

Cole Rife scored to cut the lead to 2-1 at 14:16 and Forster followed 10 seconds later to tie the game. The Broncos would eventually score five unanswered including two more by Forester and solo goals by Jack Nolan and Jack Giles.
