Golf Wins Peaks Invitational as Spielman Wins Third Title

FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. - Junior Tyler Spielman shot a 65 to lead the Brophy golf team to their fourth team title of the season at the Peaks Invitational and win his third individual medalist honors.

The Broncos, who led by seven strokes entering the second round, posted a 290 on Saturday for a two-day 578 to defeat Hamilton (584) and Notre Dame Prep (587). Spielman, who shot a 74 on Friday, recorded eight birdies with just one bogey on the Continental Country Club layout to defeat Jack DeCesare of Highland, Vincent Cervantes of Hamilton and teammate Charlie Palmer by three strokes.

He also won the Brophy Invitational and Dobson Classic individual titles this season.

Senior Charlie Palmer was tied for second with a 74 to finish in the three-way tie at 142, He led the first round with a 68. Junior Henry Dall was tied for eighth after a one-over par 73 on Saturday. Dylan Boenning shot a 78 to tie for 13th, while Nico Nuez was tied for 19th with an 80.

The Broncos head to Florida this week to play in the Honda Classic High School Invitational and play The Benjamin School in a dual match on Tuesday. They were sixth in the event last year.

Brophy, the top-ranked team in the AIA rankings, won their fourth tournament title of the season after winning the Brophy Invitational, The Brophy Rodeo and Dobson Classic team titles.
