Golf Wins Brophy Rodeo Presented by Ping Team Title 

The Brophy College Preparatory golf team shot a three-under-par 285 to post a nine-stroke victory at the Brophy Rodeo National High School Invitational presented by Ping at Grayhawk Golf Course Friday. The Broncos were led by junior Tyler Spielman, who tied for the low round on the day with five-under-par 67 to finish second overall. 

Brophy surpassed Trinity Christian Academy (Dallas, Texas), the first-round leader, after trailing by two entering the day. Columbus High School (Miami, Fla.) was third overall in the team standings. The tournament featured 32 schools from eight different states. 

The boys’ individual champion was Cooper Jones of Lone Peak High School, who finished at 10-under-par 132. He led all day after shooting a 62 on Thursday. Spielman cut his lead to three on the 16th hole before he knocked in a long birdie putt to extend the lead. 

Coronado was the girls’ team champion and were led by girls’ individual champion Brynn Kort. 
Brophy senior Charlie Palmer was tied for sixth overall after a one-under-par 71 on Friday. Junior Henry Dall shot a second consecutive 73 to tie for 11th overall. Sophomore Nick Lyman had a 74 to place 18th overall.
