Football’s Devin Fitzgerald Commits to Notre Dame

Brophy senior wide receiver Devin Fitzgerald has committed to attending and playing football at the University of Notre Dame.

“I feel there is no better school in the country with a better mixture of football and academics than you get at Notre Dame,” said Fitzgerald. “I will be surrounded by quality teammates who are focused on football, the classroom, and giving back to the community. Being around those guys every day will help shape who I want to become in the future.”

Fitzgerald will play for Head Coach Marcus Freeman, who led the Irish to the BCS National Championship game and a school-record 14 wins in 2024. He was named the National Coach of the Year by five organizations, including the 2024 Bear Bryant Coach of the Year Award.

Fitzgerald finished his career tied for first on the all-time lists for receptions and second in receiving yards and touchdowns, recording 149 catches for 2,125 yards and 26 touchdowns. He was named to the All-Central Region first team, the Navy All-America Game, and the 2025 Fiesta Bowl All-State Preseason Football Team. He was an All-Arizona preseason selection by the Arizona Republic.

He recorded 82 catches for 1,230 and 15 touchdowns in his final season, finishing second in school history in single-season receptions, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He saved the best for his final game, tying the school record with 14 receptions in a playoff game at Chandler, finishing with 14 catches for 253 yards and a school-record tying four touchdowns.

“Devin capped off a great Brophy career with an incredible senior season, landing near the top of many statistical categories, including yards, catches, and touchdowns,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “And it didn't come easy. Devin went from a rotational player as a sophomore to an all-region player as a junior, to an all-American as a senior. All of that came with tremendous hard work and dedication. In about a month, Devin will enroll early at Notre Dame, where I know he can develop into one of their top wide receivers as well.”

Fitzgerald joins current Notre Dame defensive back Cree Thomas ‘25 and current Tampa Bay Buccaneer Ben Morrison ‘22 in the Brophy to Notre Dame pipeline.

“I am super excited to continue the Brophy pipeline,” said Fitzgerald. “President Ryan told me we have 28 former Brophy students at Notre Dame. There is a huge community of Brophy alums. I look forward to getting them all together when I get out there.”
