Brophy senior Daylen Sharper has committed to playing football and attending Stanford University. The Cardinal plays in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
“I am excited to be going to Stanford,” said Sharper. “I am blessed to attend such a prestigious institution and play big-time football in the ACC. We have some outstanding commitments this year. It is a building year for Stanford, and I like how hard they play. I am very excited to help.”
Sharper will play for newly hired Stanford head coach Tavita Pritchard, who was named Stanford’s Bradford M. Freeman Director of Football last week. A 2009 Stanford graduate, he currently serves as the quarterbacks coach for the Washington Commanders and will begin in his role immediately after the Commanders’ Nov. 30 game against Denver. Pritchard is completing his third season as the Commanders' quarterbacks coach, having mentored Jayden Daniels, Jacoby Brissett, Sam Howell, and Marcus Mariota.
Sharper finished his career with 143 catches for 1,847 yards and 20 touchdowns, the third-best totals in school history. He was a three-time All-Central region selection and a 2025 Fiesta Bowl All-State Preseason Football Team nominee. Sharper was also a second-team all-state selection on the gridiron and hardwood as a junior, leading the basketball team to the 2025 6A Conference State title.
“Daylen Sharper is going to go down as one of the best multi-sport athletes in Brophy history. He will be mentioned with the likes of Devon Allen and Isiah Oliver,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “He led our school to the first basketball state championship in Brophy history and over the past three years has been one of the best and most productive wide receivers we have ever had. A freak athlete with a rare combination of size and speed has made him uncoverable over the past three years. And his weight room numbers are going to stand for a long, long time. It is going to be extremely hard to replace a three-time all-region player like Daylen. I know the sky is the limit for Daylen at Stanford.”
Sharper’s favorite memories will be off the field.
“My memories are going to focus on the times after practice and making each other laugh,” said Sharper. “We work hard and have a good time with the coaches. I will miss the coaches and teammates who have helped develop me.”
Sharper opens his senior season with the basketball team on Tuesday.
