Football's Pike Commits to the University of Arizona

Brophy senior James Pike has committed to the University of Arizona to attend school and play football. The Wilccats play in the Big 12 Conference.

“There is so much I am excited about joining the University of Arizona,” said Pike. “I love the program's culture. It is a power four school. Everyone is an athlete, so it will be very competitive. I am thankful for the opportunity. I have wanted to play in college since I was a kid. I am really excited now that it is happening.”

Pike will play for Head Coach Brent Brennan, who recently completed his second regular season at the helm of the Wildcats in 2025 with a win over Arizona State to finish 9-3.

Pike, who was one of the team captains this season, was named an All-Central Region first-team selection for the second time this season. He finished third on the team with 81 tackles and 60 solos. He was tied for the team lead with four pass deflections, placed third in tackles for loss with 7.5, and recorded five or more tackles in 10 of 12 games. He had a career-best 16 tackles at Hamilton this season.

“I am so proud of James for the career he has had for us,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “He did whatever we asked of him, played any position asked, linebacker, safety, nickel, and he did it at one speed...full speed. His genuine care and concern for this team and his teammates is something that I will not forget—voted a team captain by his peers, which shows that his teammates saw the same things that I saw in him. A two-time all-region player who will be missed not just for his player on the field but for his passion and leadership. I am so happy that James is going to live out his childhood dream of playing college football and doing it at the University of Arizona.”

Pike, who will study business at the school, was selected to film PSAs for Teen Lifeline's Messages of Hope Campaign, hosted in September for Teen Suicide Prevention Month.

His favorite memory will be the playoff game against Perry as a junior. He had two interceptions in the contest to seal the victory.

“The second Perry game is my favorite,” recalled Pike. “I had two interceptions on back-to-back plays to ice the game. To have that game in the playoffs was pretty great.”

Pike will participate in the Football Collegiate Commitment Ceremony on Dec. 3.
