Soccer Goalie J.P. Odden Commits to Phoenix College

Brophy senior goalie J.P. Odden has committed to play soccer at Phoenix College, the 2025 NJCAA National Champion, and to attend the school in the fall.

“Phoenix College is one of the best programs in the country, and coming off the National Championship. I am excited to go there, develop, and hopefully transfer to a D1,” said Odden. “My brother Luke went the JUCO route and transferred up to a Division I, so I know it is a good path.”

He will play for Head Coach Dave Cameron, who just led the Bears to the NJCAA Men’s National Championship. Cameron enters his 21st season as Head Coach at Phoenix College and has established himself as one of the most successful junior college men’s soccer coaches in the nation. He is the winningest men’s soccer coach in Maricopa County history, with 250+ career wins, and has guided the Bears to sustained excellence at the regional, district, and national levels.

“Coach Cameron is really big on the mental piece of the game,” said Odden. “They have a lot of team bonding and camaraderie in the program, and it was super appealing for me how he runs his program.”

Odden was named the Central Region Player of the Year and to the All-Arizona first team by the Arizona Republic. He was also a 2026 AIA 6A Conference All-Conference first-team selection.

“One of the best goalkeepers in Brophy Soccer history, JP has developed himself into a senior leader and captain who’s going to be hard to replace,” said Head Coach Marc Kelly. “Reliable, thoughtful, and probably the hardest working guy on the team, he’ll be a huge asset to the Phoenix College Bears as they pursue another national title!”

Odden allowed just nine goals on the season and recorded 15 shutouts. His shootout performance against Verrado in the AIA quarterfinals helped the Broncos into the semifinals, stopping two of the first three penalty kicks to seal the victory.

He lists the California trip and being with the team as his career highlights.

“It is something I have thought about in the recruiting process, which I find a team with the same brotherhood as Brophy,” said Odden. “It will be hard to find a team as we had. It was the most fun I have ever had playing soccer.”
