Heffern and O’Neill Recognized by Arizona Republic
The Arizona Republic has recognized senior Mark Heffern and Head Coach Pat O’Neill on their annual All-Arizona Swimming team. Heffern was selected to the 11-swimmer and one-diver All-Arizona team, and O’Neill was named the Coach of the Year.
Heffern had an impressive performance at the Division I State Championship meet. He partnered to win the 200 medley relay with Finn Conley, Brayden Harrison, and Noah Heimer. Then he returned in the 200 individual medley, capturing his second consecutive title in the event in 1:51.38. He was also second in the 100 butterfly and the 400 freestyle relay with teammates Nolan Guidry, Thomas McCauley, and Asher Gomez.
He earned two all-region individual first-team honors in the 200 IM and 100 butterfly for his state finishes, and first- and second-team honors with the replays. He has signed to swim at Southern Methodist University.
Brophy scored a state record 582 points to win their 44th state championship in school history. It is the school's second consecutive title, extending its state record total. It was the 13th state title of Pat O’Neill’s career, who returned to the school this season.
Brophy College Preparatory is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Alumni Awards, which will be presented during the Father–Son Communion Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 22. The annual gathering is one of Brophy’s most cherished traditions, bringing together generations of fathers and sons for a morning of faith, fellowship, and celebration of the Brophy brotherhood.
