Football Earns No. 11 Seed and Travels to No. 6 Red Mountain

For the second consecutive season, the Brophy College Prep football team earned a spot in the AIA 6A Playoff bracket and will take on No. 6 Red Mountain on Friday, November 18 at 7 p.m.

“We are a very competitive football team and our kids know it,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. ‘They have energy and practice with energy and passion. It doesn't matter what our record is now.”

Red Mountain (6-4) takes on Brophy (3-7) for the first time since the second-round playoff game in 2021 won by Red Mountain 14-13.

“We can continue to play tough and be physical with anybody,” said Jewell after the close loss to Saguaro. “We have played tough teams down to the wire and we can hang with them. Now we have to find a way to finish these games.”

The Broncos finished the season winning two of the last three games, the only loss to Open Division Saguaro 14-10 in the season finale. Brophy faced eight playoff teams during the regular season including Open Division qualifiers No. 1 Liberty, No. 5 Saguaro, No. 6 Centennial, and No. 8 Sandra Day O’Connor. They also played 6A qualifiers No. 2 Highland and No. 4 Pinnacle, as well as 5A No. 1 Notre Dame Prep and 4A No. 11 Saint Mary’s.
