Bratton, Tricco to Receive Alumni Awards at Father–Son Communion Breakfast

Brophy College Preparatory is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Alumni Awards, which will be presented during the Father–Son Communion Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 22. The annual gathering is one of Brophy’s most cherished traditions, bringing together generations of fathers and sons for a morning of faith, fellowship, and celebration of the Brophy brotherhood.

Honoring Exemplary Alumni

General Shawn Bratton ’86 has been named the 2025 recipient of the St. Ignatius of Loyola Award for Distinguished Service, and Jimmy Tricco ’99 has been selected for the St. Francis Xavier Award for Ignatian Identity.

The St. Ignatius of Loyola Award for Distinguished Service recognizes an alumnus whose life and work reflect a sustained commitment to the values of Jesuit education and the call to serve others. Bratton, recently promoted to four-star General and serving as the Vice Chief of Space Operations for the United States Space Force, has devoted nearly four decades to military service and leadership.

A 1986 graduate of Brophy, Bratton’s career has spanned the evolution of modern space and cyber operations, including leadership roles at U.S. Space Command and the Space Training and Readiness Command. His faith-centered approach to service and leadership embodies the Ignatian ideal of Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam—for the greater glory of God.

The St. Francis Xavier Award for Ignatian Identity honors a more recent alumnus who continues to live out Jesuit values in remarkable ways. Tricco serves as Principal of Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, leading both the boys’ and girls’ divisions in the school’s unique co-divisional model.

A career educator and former Brophy faculty member, Tricco has helped shape generations of students through Ignatian formation, service immersion, and a deep commitment to student well-being. His leadership reflects the Jesuit vision of forming young people who are intellectually competent, open to growth, and dedicated to faith and justice.

A Morning of Faith and Fellowship

The Father–Son Communion Breakfast begins with check-in and photos at 8 a.m., followed by Mass at St. Francis Xavier Church at 9 a.m. The morning continues with breakfast and the Alumni Award presentation at 10 a.m. in Harper Great Hall.

The event celebrates the enduring bond between fathers and sons within the Brophy community, as well as the alumni whose lives reflect the lifelong impact of a Jesuit education.
