Golf Team Ties for Second at Cognizant Classic in Florida
The Brophy golf team finished tied for second at 571 at the Cognizant High School Invitational in Florida after posting the best round of the day at seven-under-par. The Broncos tied with First Academy from Orlando and were two strokes back of the team winner, Benjamin School.
Junior Jack Langbein was the top finisher in a tie for fourth at 142 (73-69) after posting a 69 highlighted by an eagle on the 10th hole and three birdies. Sophomore Hank Miller was tied for eighth (68-76) overall. Junior Asher Nelson joined the group in a tie for eighth at 144 (75-69), helped by seven birdies on the round. Junior Evan Tyree tied for 16th at 146 (74-72), while senior Mateo Berastegui was 31st (81-71). Brennan Wiscombe shot rounds of 77 and 78.
Brophy stood in third after the first round at two-over par. The Broncos will look to defend the AIA Division I State Championship Nov. 5-6.
