Track and Field Finishes Season at Open Championships
The Brophy track and field team finished 21st at the AIA Open Division State Championships with 11.5 points.
Senior Darius Alberty took sixth in the javelin at 178-4. Sophomore Garrett Larsen led all finishers on the track, placing seventh in the 400 meters (49.49). Senior Nero Nuez, the Division I champion, was ninth in the 110m hurdles (15.04), while senior Santiago Sanchez was 17th in his final race in the 1600m (4:23.89).
Junior Rylan Umphrey was the top finisher in the meet for the Broncos, taking third in the long jump on Friday at 23.5.5. Junior Tanner Bice was 17th in the high jump (6-0). The 4x400m relay (Teagan Martinez, Jake Shaff, Umphrey, Larsen) was 15th in (3:22.03).
