The Brophy baseball team extended its season with a 2-1 win over Queen Creek in a 6A Tournament elimination game. The Broncos will host O’Connor on Saturday at 11 a.m. to advance again.
Junior Jonah Castle provided the big hit with a two-run home run in the sixth inning. It was his first career home run. It put starter Jack Lafflam in a position to close out the game in the seventh, finishing with eight strikeouts and one run on three hits with two walks for his sixth win of the season.
Castle was 2-for-3 with a run scored and two RBI. Dennis Gregory III and Brandon Wirtz added hits for the Broncos.
