The Brophy junior varsity hockey team defeated Pinnacle 4-3 in overtime in the AHSHA JV State Championship at Mullet Arena. Joey LaChapelle had a hat trick, including the game-winner in overtime. He was named the Most Valuable Player.
Brophy responded to tie the game three times, including twice in the third period. With 2:44 left, Benjamin Surgent scored the third goal, assisted by Joey LaChapelle, to force overtime. Nicholas Olivieri assisted in the first goal, and Lucas Hiler assisted on the second goal and the game-winner.
Brophy also defeated Desert Vista (5-2) and Campo Verde (4-2) in the playoffs. The Broncos finished fourth in the regular season at 12-6-3.
Brophy College Preparatory is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Alumni Awards, which will be presented during the Father–Son Communion Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 22.
