Basketball Wins 51st Annual Father Barry Classic

Senior Daylen Sharper sealed the game at the free throw line as Brophy posted a 63-59 win over Cathedral Catholic in the championship of the 51st Annual Father Barry Classic. The Broncos were the defending champions, winning the title in back-to-back seasons for the first time and fifth time in school history.

Sharper drew a foul on a drive to the basket with one second left in a tie game at 59. He made both free throws and converted two more after a technical foul was called on the Cathedral Catholic bench for the final margin of victory. Sharper finished with a game-high 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists to earn all-tournament honors.

Senior Hale Hansen was named the Most Valuable Player, scoring 13 points in the game, including the last six from the field down the stretch. Senior Rocket Schwertley added eight points in the win, joining the all-tournament team, while sophomore Aiden Williams had 13 points and Cooper Frakes chipped in 10.

Brophy improved to 6-0 on the season.  The Broncos return home to host O’Connor on Wednesday.
