Lacrosse’s CJ Wendell Commits to Milwaukee School of Engineering

Brophy goalie CJ Wendell has committed to attending and playing lacrosse at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. The Raiders compete in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference of the NCAA Division III.

“I started talking to them at the end of the summer, and went on a tour and talked to the coach,” said Wendell. “The coach has built a brotherhood that is very similar to Brophy.”

He will play for Head Coach Sean Farrell, who has led the program since 2014. The Raiders concluded the 2025 season with a 10-7 record, achieving an impressive seven-game winning streak and advancing to the conference quarterfinals.

Wendell, who is also a member of the FRC (First Robotics Competition) team at Brophy for three seasons, will study mechanical engineering.

“There are a lot of job possibilities and what you can do with a mechanical engineering degree,” said Wendell. “I like to make and design things.”

Wendell has been a four-year member of the program and one of two senior goalies, joining Ryan Peitzmeier.

“We push each other the most at practice, and we try to outperform each other in the cage,” said Wendell. “It flips in the game, and we support each other. The friendly competition in practices and in the weight room helps each other.”

The goalie plays a significant role in the defensive effort.

“I really like helping the defense out and communicating with them during the game,” said Wendell, who also played freshman tennis and is a member of the social golf club. “Making one good save can turn the game around. I appreciate the opportunity to play a crucial role on the team and perform effectively.”

“The family behind the team and everybody helping each other. The environment Coach Pat has built and the work ethic.”

Wendall made 22 saves last season in 15 games played for the Broncos, saving 51 percent of the shots on goal. He helped the Broncos to a fourth consecutive state championship

“CJ Wendell enters his fourth season on varsity as a veteran and experienced goaltender,” said Head Coach Pat Harbeson. “His growth and persistence within our program are truly admired. CJ shows up every day with a positive attitude. Even on the tough days, you’d never know it. His patience, consistency, and maturity have positioned him to take on a greater leadership role this season, setting the stage for him to excel between the pipes. CJ is committed to the Milwaukee School of Engineering, where I’m confident he’ll make an impact both on and off the field.”

He will join 16 Broncos at the Collegiate Commitment Celebration on Nov. 12.
