Baseball’s Owen McGuire Commits to the Air Force Academy

Baseball senior pitcher Owen McGuire has committed to attending the Air Force Academy and playing for the program. The Falcons play in the Mountain West Conference.

“I am really excited to play a Division I sport in college,” said McGuire. “I am excited to serve my country, have opportunities to fly planes, and get a really good education at a great school.”

McGuire will play for Mike Kazlausky, who enters his 16th year as Air Force baseball head coach in 2026. In 2025, the Falcons wrapped up the season with a 20-34 overall record, including a dozen Mountain West wins. Air Force notched six series victories, highlighted by triumphs over service academy rivals, Navy and Army, along with four conference opponents.

McGuire has met with U.S. Congressmen David Schweikert and U.S. Senator Ruben Gallego as part of his nomination process.

“I am grateful to all the coaches and everyone who has helped me reach this point,” said McGuire. “I could not have done it without them. Having great teammates around me every day to push me and help me improve daily, and the players who came before me who have committed, have shown me what I need to do and how they prepared every day. That example set me up to be where I need to be today.”

McGuire pitched in four games as a junior with a 3.23 ERA and played in 24 games overall, adding six hits and seven runs batted in.

“The United States Air Force Academy seeks individuals who embody integrity, discipline, selflessness, and a deep commitment to service, qualities that define both great cadets and great teammates,” said Head Coach Josh Garcia ‘07. “Owen McGuire is the perfect example of that standard. Throughout his time in our program, Owen has been one of the best teammates we’ve ever had, dependable, humble, and always putting others before himself. His work ethic and leadership have left a lasting impact on everyone around him. We’re incredibly proud of Owen and excited to see him continue his journey of excellence and service at the Air Force Academy.”

McGuire has been a part of the Red and White Club, as well as the Pickleball and Spike Ball clubs, while serving as a Big Brother.

“I am excited to play with the guys,” said McGuire about his upcoming senior season. “Since we came in as freshmen, we knew this year was going to be our year. We are looking forward to playing with a really strong team and making some more great memories.”

McGuire is one of five baseball players who will make their commitments on the College Commitment Celebration on Nov. 12.
