O’Neill Named Swimming and Diving Coach at Brophy College Prep

Patrick O’Neill has been named the Head Swimming and Diving coach at Brophy College Prep, Athletic Director Josh Garcia ‘07 announced.

“I'm extremely excited about returning to Brophy, I feel like I'm coming home,” said O’Neill. “I look forward to working with these young men and renewing my connections with the Brophy community.

O’Neill joins Brophy after coaching and teaching at Red Mountain High School since 2018. He returns to Brophy, where he led the Broncos to 12 state championships from 2006 to 2018. During his first tenure at the school, he did not lose a dual meet, invitational, or state championship.

He also coached at Mesa Mountain View for nine seasons, posting five runner-up finishes to Brophy.

The National High School Athletic Coaches Association named him the National Swim Coach of the Year in 2013-14.

He will rejoin the Brophy faculty this fall, returning his 27 years of classroom experience to the school.

O’Neill replaces his former assistant coach, Daren Brubaker. Brubaker led the Broncos to the 2024 AIA Division I State championship and has been named the Division I Coach of the Year for the last two seasons. He has been at the school for 11 years and has been the head coach since 2018.
