The Brophy College Preparatory baseball program, led by Head Coach Josh Garcia ‘07, will host the 34th Annual Adam Donnenfield Preseason Tournament from Feb. 25 to Feb. 28. The event features 47 teams playing 99 games at 33 sites and honors the memory of former Brophy student Adam Donnenfield.
“Adam loved baseball and being at Brophy,” said Larry and Johanna Donnenfield. “It was a wonderful combination. It is an honor to Adam and our family that Brophy has created and promoted “The Adam Donnenfield Memorial Tournament” for over 30 years.”
The Adam Donnenfield Preseason Tournament is one of the longest-lasting tournaments in Arizona. It was established by Brophy’s head baseball coach, Tom Succow, in 1992, with support from the Donnenfield family. As a freshman in 1988, Adam began his baseball career at Brophy and planned to attend Princeton following graduation in the spring of 1992, where he committed to play Ivy League baseball. Sadly, during his senior year in December 1991, Adam was killed in a car accident. We continue to honor Adam by hosting this tournament in his name.
