Brophy Advances to Father Barry Classic Championship

BASKETBALL / Brophy advanced to the championship game of the 51st Father Barry Classic with a 52-48 victory over Archbishop Mitty (San Jose, Calif.) Friday at Jesuit High School in Sacramento. The Broncos are the defending champions and have appeared in the championship game in three consecutive seasons. Brophy has won the title four times: 1981, 2017, 2021, and 2024.

Senior Hale Hansen had 18 points and 11 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double to go with two blocks. Senior Rocket Schwertley added 13 points, seven boards, and a critical triple after Mitty had cut the lead to three late in the fourth quarter. Daylen Sharper scored eight points, had seven boards, and five assists.

Brophy hit 8-of-10 free throws in the fourth quarter to seal the game. 

Brophy will play Cathedral Catholic (San Diego) in the finals on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The game can be seen on the NFHS Network.
