Jimmy Tricco '99 - 2025 St. Francis Xavier Award for Ignatian Identity

This award is given annually to an alumnus who, after graduating from Brophy, has sought to deepen his commitment to the ideals of Jesuit education in remarkable ways. Like St. Francis Xavier, who was moved by his encounter with Ignatius to boldly and selflessly live Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam — for the greater glory of God — the recipient of this award has been moved by his Jesuit education to find unique points of intersection between his talents and the needs of the world. Brophy is pleased to announce that Jimmy Tricco ’99 has been named the 2025 recipient of the St. Francis Xavier Award for Ignatian Identity.

Now in his eighth year as Principal of Regis Jesuit High School in Aurora, Colorado, Jimmy Tricco leads both the boys’ and girls’ divisions in the school’s distinctive co-divisional model. His work reflects the heart of Ignatian leadership — forming students, faculty, and families to discern, serve, and lead for the greater good. Before joining Regis Jesuit in 2018, he was a founding leader at Xavier College Preparatory in Palm Desert, California, where he served as principal, director of student life, and campus ministry leader over eight years, helping to build a thriving Jesuit-endorsed lay school community from its earliest years.

Jimmy’s path in Jesuit education began in Brophy classrooms, where he later returned to teach Religious Studies and Social Studies from 2004 to 2010. As department chair and retreat director, he helped young men grow in faith, intellect, and compassion — foundations he continues to nurture in his students today. At Regis Jesuit, he has championed a school-wide immersion requirement ensuring every graduate experiences hands-on solidarity with marginalized communities, strengthened Ignatian faculty formation through the Ignatian Growth Cycle, and expanded student mental-health and learning-support programs to care for the whole person.

A graduate of Duquesne University with a B.A. in psychology and theology, Jimmy also holds a master’s in counseling psychology from Northern Arizona University and a certificate in Catholic school leadership from Loyola Marymount University. He has completed the Jesuit Schools Network’s Seminars in Ignatian Leadership and served on accreditation and sponsorship review teams for other Jesuit institutions.

Through his vocation as an educator, husband, and father, Jimmy models the Ignatian ideal of finding God in all things. His leadership reflects both humility and hope — a faith that transforms classrooms into communities of discernment and service.

Brophy College Preparatory proudly honors Jimmy Tricco ’99 as the 2025 recipient of the St. Francis Xavier Award for Ignatian Identity, recognizing his lifelong dedication to Jesuit education and his inspiring witness to faith in action.
