Counselor’s Corner/Teen Wellness – Karen Parise, LPC
Welcome back for the 2016-2017 school year! This year I will be providing some ways to help you and your sons navigate the ups and downs of adolescence. This first note will focus on stress. After attending a Jesuit counselor’s conference this past year, it became very apparent that students across the country are becoming increasingly more anxious overall. At times it has turned into psychiatric disorders, absences, poor self-esteem, and many other emotional and physical health issues. How can we mitigate these circumstances and help our young men find balance?  I propose that we begin with education. Our mission at Brophy is to educate the whole person. With that in mind, let’s begin by raising our awareness and finding ways to promote healthy habits. For some information on recognizing and treating stress, click here.
