Brophy senior swimmer Ashton Jiswiak has committed to the University of Wisconsin swimming program and will be attending the school. The Badgers are an NCAA Division I program in the Big 10 Conference.
Joswiak will swim for Head Coach Jack Brown, a former National Champion with 13 years of collegiate coaching experience. He was named Wisconsin's seventh swimming and diving head coach, announced on May 21, 2025. Brown arrives after six seasons spent at the University of North Carolina, where he served as the associate head coach for the Tar Heels.
“I am excited about the culture and teammates,” said Joswiak. “I can’t wait to be part of that team. I am looking forward to getting better with the coaches who will be able to push me harder than I am already training.”
Joswiak recently completed his Brophy career, placing eighth in the 500 freestyle (4:42.61) and ninth in the 200 free (1:47.52) at the AIA Division I State Championships. He helped the team to its second consecutive state championship with a meet record 582 points.
“It is fun to go back-to-back,” said Joswiak. “It is great watching the younger guys because you know they are going to do great in the future.”
At the 2023 AIA Division I State Championships, Joswiak placed fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:38.37) and 15th in the 100 backstroke (56.32). He was third in the 500 freestyle and 10th in the 100 backstroke at the 2024 state meet.
“We saw a lot of growth with Ashton with his maturity and team spirit,” said Head Coach Patrick O’Neill. “We wish him luck at Wisconsin. He is joining an accomplished swimming program. I hope he likes the cold a little bit.”
He lists the team bonding events at Manresa among his favorite memories of Brophy.
“The community time together has been more fun than the times in the pool,” said Joswiak.
“It is going ot be great to be a student-athlete,” said Joswiak. “Hopefully, the athlete part will push me as a student as well. There will be great resources, and being pushed physically and mentally every day will help me in the future.”
