Rowing’s Jack Nidiffer Commits to Fairfield University for Rowing

Brophy senior Jack Nidiffer was committed to attending and competing for Fairfield University's rowing program in Connecticut. The Stags are part of the NCAA Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

“My opportunity at Fairfield came up after touring colleges on the East Coast and talking to the coaches,” said Nidiffer. “They are expecting big things in the future with the program. I really like the campus and the environment.”

Stephen Baranoski was named Associate Director of Rowing and Head Men's Rowing Coach at Fairfield University in 2025. Baranoski brings more than a decade of coaching and competitive rowing experience to Fairfield. He has coached at both the collegiate and club levels, while also competing for Marietta College and various clubs in Philadelphia and Boston during and after his collegiate career.

“The men’s team has a lot of resources and is part of a select group of schools that compete in Division I,” said Nidiffer. “It fits the size and culture at the school I was looking for.”

Nidiffer, who competes in the Men’s Youth Double on the stroke seat with Josh Murar, has been part of the Brophy program for four seasons. He lists finishing sixth out of 24 at the Southwest Regionals Regatta last May and his fifth place out of 20 at the San Diego Fall Classic among his top results.

“My favorite thing is the community of the program,” said Nidiffer, who has also been part of the Roundup Club as an editor. “It is fun hanging out with the guys and pushing each other to get faster and faster. It is my favorite part.”

Head Coach Pete Nidiffer appreciates his senior, marking the fourth consecutive year a collegiate rower has been produced by the program.

"Jack Nidiffer is the embodiment of what it means to be both a dedicated scholar and a driven athlete,” said Head Coach Pete Cannia. “His natural athleticism is such that he could have excelled in any sport—but we at Brophy are grateful that he chose rowing, a sport he embraced with true passion and heart.
From the moment Jack joined our program, he brought with him a championship mindset—one that not only fueled his own success but elevated the standard for everyone around him. His leadership, work ethic, and commitment to excellence helped shape the positive culture and winning spirit that define Brophy Rowing today.

As Jack now takes his talents, discipline, and competitive fire to Fairfield University, we feel immense pride. It has been an honor to be part of his journey, and we look forward to watching him continue to grow, succeed, and inspire at the next level. We wish him nothing but the very best in all that lies ahead."
Nidiffer will be part of the Brophy Collegiate Commitment Celebration on Nov. 12.
