Baseball's Ryan Fesperman Commits to Sacramento State

Baseball’s Ryan Fesperman has committed to play at and attend school at Sacramento State University. The Hornets play in the Western Athletic Conference.

“I am excited to play baseball in California at Sacramento State,” said Fesperman. “I have always wanted to do that, and it was my main goal. Sacramento State is a good place to get playing time, and it competes in a strong conference with challenging competition. It is everything to be able to play in college. It has been a dream for a long time, and I don't think it has fully set in.”

Fesperman will play for Reggie Christansen, who enters his 16th season at the helm of the Hornets in 2026, having led his teams to 12 seasons of 30 or more victories, three NCAA Regional berths, 12 WAC postseason appearances, three conference tournament titles, three league regular-season crowns, and more.

“Coach Christianson has a winning record and is really competitive,” said Fesperman. “He has had numerous 30-plus winning seasons. The school is really making an effort with the athletic program and has great plans (for growth).”

Fesperman is coming off a junior season hitting .277 with two home runs and 15 runs batted in, the second-best total on the team. He ranked among the top five in on-base and slugging percentage. He had a season-high three hits against Basha.

“Over the past two years, Ryan Fesperman has embraced every challenge the game and myself has thrown at him with determination and maturity,” said Head Coach Josh Garcia ‘07. “Open to coaching and growth, Ryan has handled challenging moments and high expectations from us coaches with grace and resilience. His commitment to constant improvement sets a powerful example for his teammates. We’re excited to watch Ryan continue to develop and thrive as he takes the next step in his baseball journey at Sacramento State.”

Fesperman’s favorite memory was the walk-off playoff win against Perry, calling it “one of the most exciting moments” of the season.

He is excited about the potential of his team this season, featuring six committed players in the senior class.

“Our team has a lot of talent and potential and has a great chance to compete for a state championship,” said Fesperman.

He will join 16 Broncos at the Collegiate Commitment Celebration on Nov. 12.
