Adam Angulo, 150 pounds, went 3-1, pinning all-state foe Ryland Moss of Liberty in the semifinals before losing 16-1 to 3x state champ and Iowa State-bound Carlos Stanton of Sunnyside. Stanton is ranked no. 1, Angulo no. 2 in the state.
Landon Jurek rattled off five wins and two losses to take 4th at 190 pounds. He defeated out-of-state opponents from El Paso Riverside, Texas, and Silver, NM. "People took notice of Landon in Tucson. He is a consistent performer with his eyes on an all-state finish." Catan said.
Jackson Sweetman reached the semifinals at 215 pounds but fell to Maddux Botma of Liberty 7-2; Sweetman placed 6th.
Beau Wallace, 126 pounds, and Rowdy Benear, 157, both had three wins. Benear defeated a formidable Sunnyside foe 10-3.
