Basha Ends Football Winning Streak in AIA Game of the Week
The Brophy football team fell for the first time this season to top-ranked Basha 35-32 at Central High School. The Broncos (5-1) rallied late with 15 unanswered to cut the deficit to three, but the Bears (5-1) held on.
Junior quarterback Case Vanden Bosch’s one-yard run with 2:05 left came on the heels of an 8-yard scoring reception to Daylen Sharper earlier in the quarter. Sharper finished with seven catches for a career-best 108 yards and two touchdowns. It was the third 100-yard receiving game of his career.
Vanden Bosch rushed for 84 on 17 carries and two touchdowns and completed 14-for-22 for 207 yards and two touchdowns. Harrison Chambers and Carlos Estrada combined for 94 yards. Nathan Benzie had three catches for 66 yards and a career-best 57-yard reception.
Basha led 14-10 at the half and built a 35-17 lead with a 57-yard run by Roberts with 7:44 left.
Dom Woods had a team-best 14 tackles and classmate Dom Woods added 10 tackles. The Broncos had three sacks and two fumble recoveries.
