Brophy-Xavier Speech & Debate Places First in National Qualifier
Congratulations to the Brophy-Xavier Speech & Debate team, taking 1st Place in Team Sweepstakes and Debate Sweepstakes at the National Qualifier, held March March 21-23, at Brophy. The team's impressive showing marked a first win for the schools since 2015.
The winning team of students from Brophy and Xavier College Preparatory comprised Hope Smith '24 in Dramatic Interpretation; Mahima Sanghera '25 and Timothy Jiang '25 in Lincoln-Douglas Debate; Yug Sonawane '27 and Ethan Han '27 in Policy Debate; Santiago Paul '25 and Dione Pahilan '25 in Policy Debate; and Lucas Vargas '26 and Elise Kindle '24 in Informative Speaking. These Broncos and Gators will go on to participate in the National Speech & Debate Tournament in June.
The Brophy-Xavier Speech & Debate team moderator is Jim Welty '14, a member of Brophy's Social Studies Department.
Brophy College Preparatory is proud to announce the recipients of the 2025 Alumni Awards, which will be presented during the Father–Son Communion Breakfast on Saturday, Nov. 22. The annual gathering is one of Brophy’s most cherished traditions, bringing together generations of fathers and sons for a morning of faith, fellowship, and celebration of the Brophy brotherhood.
