Sailing Club Led by West Walker '25 Finds Success in the Valley

Weston Walker '25, a desert transplant who had learned to sail when his family lived in New Jersey, decided "why not find a way" when considering how he would continue an activity that he loved in a location short on water. He recruited some of his Brophy classmates and they pulled a boat and equipment to Lake Pleasant for sailing lessons and the Arizona High School Sailing Club was born.

This desert team competes against coastal California teams and placed second in their first California regatta.  In Arizona, they hope to help other high schools form teams by sharing their boats and sailing acumen with those who want to learn.

Thank you to Channel 12 for telling their story! Students in the video are West, Lukas Villela '25, Teague Walker '26 and Lionel Franklin '26.
