Football’s Jewell Named Cardinals Coach of the Week

Football Head Coach Jason Jewell was named Arizona Cardinals' “High School Coach-of-the-Week” presented by Circle K and SCHEELS.

Jewell led the Broncos to a 42-17 victory over Notre Dame Prep last week. The Bronco's defense was crucial in the win after holding Notre Dame to just 1-of-10 on third down attempts and containing wide receiver Cooper Perry to just 19 yards on five receptions. Brophy is 4-1 on the season.

In its 29th year, the Cardinals “Coach-of-the-Week” award presented by Circle K and SCHEELS is selected by a local sports panel consisting of former high school football coach Kelly Epley, former 12 News sports anchor Bruce Cooper, current 12 News sports anchors Cameron Cox and Lina Washington, Cardinals Community Relations Director Horace Raymond, Arizona Republic/azcentral.com high school writer Richard Obert and Circle K Brand Manager Mitchell Miranda.

A plaque with statistics acknowledging the award in addition to a check for $2,000 on behalf of Cardinals Charities to support the Brophy Prep football program will be presented to Jewell in an award ceremony at the school (4701 N. Central Ave, Phoenix) on Wednesday, Sept. 27 at 10:50 a.m.
The Cardinals' weekly “Coach-of-the-Week” program presents a selected high school coach with a certificate signed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, Cardinals Owner Michael Bidwill, and Head Coach Jonathan Gannon.
