Sweetman to Play Football at Bethany College

David Sweetman has committed to playing football at Bethany College and attending the NAIA school this fall.

“David Sweetman was a one-man wrecking crew for three years as our nose guard,” said Head Coach Jason Jewell. “No one could single block David. He made as many plays on this team over. a three-year span as anyone in our program. In my four years as head coach, no player got as many comments on his talents from opposing coaches as David Sweetman.”

Sweetman had 31 tackles over nine games and recorded 9.5 tackles for loss to rank second on the team. He finished his career second on the career list with 29 tackles for loss.  He also ranked among the career sack top 10 with eight.

He was a 6A Northeast Valley Region first-team and 6A Conference and Arizona Republic All-Arizona honorable mention selection.

Sweetman was a three-time all-state performer with a third-place finish in 2020 and second-place runner-up places in 2022 (220) and 2023 (285).

Bethany College is located in Lindsborg, Kan. He will play for Head Coach Mike Grossner. 

He is the 17th player from the Class of 2023 to make a collegiate commitment to play sports and the second from the football program.
